Quite recently a very good friend of mine posed a question to me & that I figure I’d share as food for thought since I am still figuring out the right answer. The question was “whose roof are you under”? Of course I know where I live, whose name I bare, who houses me and so on however, upon second thoughts I realized I wasn’t so sure after all. Where we live, work, or worship does not necessarily provides the cover we long for. At home, an impressionable child may literally live with his or her parents but his/ her roof may be social media and virtual family across the sea. Work places may not be the proverbial roof for an employee if they have other lucrative sources of earning a living. At church or any other spiritual meeting place, being a member does not mean your heart is there. Upon reflection, I find that your ‘roof’ is not determined by your Geographical or physical location but a mental & intentional or unintentional choice of whom you choose to submit to with regards to your essence & who is influencing , molding, or shaping your actions & thought processes. I reiterate the question…’Whose roof are you under’?
